Watched Extreme Makeover: Home Edition today, only because it was a local episode. They came down here to Albuquerque last November and fixed up a house and some other buildings. I remember one of my bosses had gone over to volunteer, but was turned away because they had so many volunteers already ( Read more... )

I'm always curious about the story behind the story. In this case, it was easy to see that ABC edited out or instructed the Martinez family not to mention Jesus a hundred times during the broadcast, as they would have done naturally. Or, it was edited out ( ... )

About letting the kids around some possibly unsavory people -- I wondered the same thing! Isn't that just a little bit too dangerous? Almost like endangerment. They're incredibly brave people, and lucky too.

I didn't even think about the family being censored, but now that you mention it, you're probably right. I noticed they kept the big crucifix and even showed it brieftly, though.

I personally believe they deserve to be a little selfish, and didn't think Mr. Martinez's reaction sounded negative. I like how his wife put it: they have to replenish themselves in order to give back so much to the community.

It is funny that they showed a lot of night time scenes (didn't notice that at first). It was also funny how everyone looked freezing in the morning shots, all bundled up in coats and such, and then afternoon rolls around and everyone's sweating in t-shirts. That's New Mexico weather for you! XD
