This weekend there was a church retreat here. They talked a lot about how gay people should not get married and prayed for the country blah blah blah. There was a seminar called "Evil is Evil" where they had the kids all use our kitchen to make cookie dough, obviously thinking they were making cookies, and after the dough was all ready they had ( Read more... )

that kind of thing, the dirt into the cookie dough to teach a "lesson," makes me angrier than anything i can think of. kids don't take that to heart. they don't think to themselves, "well, even though i won't be getting those delicious cookies i thought i would be getting, i understand that there was simply no other way to learn this terribly important lesson." if i had been there i think it would have been impossible for me to not act bothered by something like that. ugh, i just can't express how much it bothers me when people do things like that to kids. the other day i saw a video where a kid was opening his presents on christmas morning, and he opens an xbox! it made me so furious. i felt like this was the kind of weekend that those kids will look back on and say, "that's why i hate religion." it was just a straight up mean way to get a point across. to have them make this cookie dough, in the evening after a day of stupid classes, thinking it was some sort of fun thing they got to do, and then pour dirt in it!?

that xbox thing is horrifying as well. do people not realize kids remember things?

Doing this activity = kids bummed the rest of the night

NOT doing this activity = kids roasting in hell for eternity

Seems pretty simple.

i should have asked myself WWCDBD? and then my moral compass would have been steered in the right direction, and wouldn't have been so bent out of shape.
