I said yes because one of the women I work with just asked this question because she'd already purchased the dress and we all came to the conclusion (including people who have much more wedding experience than I) that it was all right. This is the 21st century after all ;)

I've worn black to a wedding, and the bride even told me I looked great. So there. Also, maybe a cute shrug would do the trick of covering up for you, too.

Yes. The only wedding dressing thing I have heard is don't wear white. Black is fine - especially for an evening wedding. The wrap is an excellent idea for a splash of color and in case of aggressive AC.

Whoops, I voted without reading the whole post. I think if you're going to have a colourful wrap then it would be fine.

I honestly have no idea on the Miss Manners "official" line on this stuff, I just think all black at a wedding seems off.
