Apparently this prompt spoke to Louisa. She posted her response here.

A/N: I'm not even gonna play -- the reference here is to Freud's structural model of the psyche, which includes the id, superego, and ego.

Strukturelle Schwierigkeiten

~es~There is that part, needy, angry, selfish, wanting, with twin desires. One of them is for pain. It wants to bite, push, shatter, punish for the hurt she was caused at Kalinda’s hands - more accurately, at her silence. But there is something here too that is unexpected… an element of flesh, a want and need to touch and taste, to greedily take her own pleasure and drink of Kalinda’s as if it will fill an inexplicable emptiness. It is a wanton thing, heady and selfish. Sometimes the desire for pain and pleasure seems to fuse into a frightening amalgam that leaves Alicia in a cold/hot sweat at night, waking to dreams she forces herself to forget. This part is careless of the consequences, pays no mind to the insanity of any of these ideas. The very thought of giving herself over leaves her utterly terrified, doubtful of who she is at her very core. Between ( ... )

Maybe JM is a Freudian! Is this what happened???

:-) \o/ NJiC fic! Oh happy day...well except couldn't there be some part of Alicia's psyche that decides to run with the eros?

Well, conceptually this is how each part of her psyche is fucking her over in some way. But maybe the next in "The Psychoanalysis of Alicia Florrick" series will tackle Eros and Thanatos. :D

This was just beautifully written, and so poignant. It rings so true with the Alicia we see on the show.

Thank you! Yeah, part of me will always be trying to explain why on earth we see Alicia the way she is on the show. D:

New Jamie fic!!! :-D

A very nice fic, and a very good point - would certainly explain a lot -- although it is not good news to realize that all of Alicia’s psyche conspires to keep her away from Kalinda! Pleaase doc, do something to fix her before it’s never!

(Needless to say I am very much in favour of a “Psychoanalysis of Alicia Florrick” series ;-)

Thank you! Yes, this is very much an Alicia--of-Season-5 fic. Of course, every therapist believes one can overcome these "structural difficulties" given the proper motivation. MOTIVATE, ALICIA.

I wish I could better express how much I enjoyed this fic, but unfortunately I am running on low in terms of sleep. However, Alicia in battle with herself? How true to character! And yes, if only they could just both stop and take a moment to be in the same place at the same time with no distractions, like the incidentals scene! That was a moment that they needed. Thanks for sharing!

I am glad you enjoyed! Unfortunately, I think current canon Alicia is her own barrier to a relationship with K. *ahem*gettherapy*ahem*

Go to sleep!
