I freaking love this story. I knew there had to be a twist at some point, because no way was this a fic about Merlin and Arthur in which Merlin did not make an appearance until more than 2/3 of the way through, but I was completely delighted by the way that that twist took place. And I LOVE Merlin being like, no no, one night stand is not okay. But in love forever and ever? That's cool.

Oh, that was lovely. I loved the characterizations - particularly Merlin/Myrddin - the tests and his approach to them were delicious.

Oh wow, I love this. Gwen and Arthur, Arthur's loneliness, Merlin meeting the challenges practically rather than magically. Their reunion scene--Merlin begging Arthur to let him go--guh. And oh Merlin, back to being a scamp at the end. :D

OMG! HOW MUCH DO I LOVE YOU???????!!!!! OMG SO MUCH!!!!!

This story is FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC! I loved the clever take on Guenevere/Lancelot and the deeply caring relationship between Arthur and Gwen. Both Arthur's and Myrddin's reactions to the golem spell *killed* me! (Myrddin's especially had me covering my mouth with my hand because I wasn't sure what to expect from him.)

Oh, honey! And, seriously, I love the storytelling-type narrative framework: part historical account, part storybook, and all very fitting for this Arthurian legend dabbling.

Really, I'm thrilled with this story!

Eventually, it would end in tears and bloodshed, as all things do.

But not yet.

Not yet. And that's actually enough for me. This was brilliant.
