reflecting on verbs

why can't i simply say "i miss" and have it carry meaning?! why do i have to state what it is i miss?! or else put in the past tense for it to make any sense?! can't i simply be in the state or act of missing?! why does this verb not allow me to keep secrets?! it demands an object. it refuses to hide or lie away its contents. or else it remarks on ( Read more... )

sort of on this topic, i was just thinking the other day how "se manquer" was such a weird reflexive verb in french, and it didn't follow the other reflexive verb rules. stop reading my thoughts! interesting questions to ponder, though.
