Basic Information

Who are you? What is this?

I’m emiv and this is my personal graphic journal.

What kind of graphics do you have here?

Mostly icons. Sometimes I’ll post a banner, wallpaper or picspam. My style is primarily minimal, focusing on cropping, coloring and subject. click here for further details.

Wait, wasn’t this community Members Only?

It was. From December 2005 - October 2009, for reasons of bandwidth conservation, sweet__tea was a member’s only community. ( For the complete explanation on why sweet__tea is no longer members only click here.)

Membership

Now that sweet__tea is public, why would I want to be a member?

At the moment, membership is only needed for access to the icons in the Archive (see next question). Also, any future request posts and various other benefits will be exclusive to members.

What is The Archive?

The Archive is my term for the 19,000+ icons posted here at sweet__tea prior to November 2009, while the community was Members Only.

Ok, I want to be a member. Now what?

To request to join the community, please click here. Once your request is processed, you will be added.

I joined, haven’t I been added yet?

If you joined less than three weeks ago, it is possible that I haven't processed your request yet. While I usually get to them right away, sometimes it takes a little time. Thank you for your patience.

Why was my request to join rejected?

It is most likely because your journal did not meet a simple set of criteria. This criteria includes, but is not limited to crediting the icons you are currently using and a real* active journal that is more than six months old. These criteria are used across the board, and journals that do not meet them are automatically rejected.

I am, however, human and I will make the occasional mistake. If you feel I have rejected your journal in error, please comment to this post to let me know.

*note: journals which are only used for posting icons or role playing will not be considered.

There are lots of sites that explain hotlinking much better than I can.

I want you to make me an icon! Will you?

I do have periods of time were I accept icon requests from my members-after all, you’ve taken the trouble of applying and joined my community, you deserve a little extra. When I am accepting requests, I’ll post to let everyone know.

Will you write a tutorial?

Depends. If I have a new technique to teach I might write up a tutorial for it. I shy away from coloring tutorials because they do not usually teach techniques (or anything, for that matter, beside plugging in hex codes and numbers.)

99% of what I’ve learned has come from simply experimenting with Photoshop over a period of years-and experimenting is the method I believe teaches the most.

I will never upload a .PSD file. Do not ask for one. They teach you nothing.

I’ve looked at all of your current graphics, but I am still looking for more! Where should I go?

What do the numbers at the top of your posts mean?

I started numbering my posts after making the community public in November 2009. The 300+ post made prior to that time are unnumbered.

Do you have any promotional banners I can use on my journal or site?

Why is your icon journal called 'sweet__tea'?

Not surprisingly, it is named after my favorite beverage-one that I happened to be drinking at the time when I was deciding on a name for my icon journal. Not all that exciting, but there it is.
