I have many feelings about this episode, most of them about how I would quite like Elizabeth Bishop - either of her - to be my mum. But also wee!Olivia. Someone hug her, immediately.
It doesn't bother me so much that Peter doesn't remember, because we've already been told that he doesn't remember vast swathes of his childhood. With Olivia, I am clinging to Nick's suggestion that Walter messed with their memories, but it wouldn't have hurt to have had a line to that effect, I mean it wasn't like it could have made Walter's actions any more horrific.
Also: Peter the little fairytale boy, who believes his real home is in the bottom of the lake; Olivia the white knight who will take him home
I KNOW. The Peter/Olivia in the previous episode made me go 'aww' simply because Olivia looked so happy, and then it made me sad because of a. BABBY and b. INEXPLICABLE SERIAL-KILLER PETER, which clearly means that things are going south soon.
And, yes, since Olivia's photographic memory has been a PLOTPOINT in this very season, I would appreciate some more information.
YES. Perfect description of them.
I LOVE the genderflip here: Peter the fairytale princess (locked up in an isolated tower, literally - his childhood home in Reidan Lake) and Olivia the knight in shining armour, always saving the day.
I don't follow the program, and so can't speak about any unspeakableness, but I can empathize with the impulse to smash keys, and admire your restraint when you don't.
Hi! Tumblr brought me here. (: I just wanted to say that I agree with your thoughts on the episode! I too loved Elizabeth Bishop's character the most in this episode. She did a phenomenal job, I think. I also thought the continuity errors in this episode were distracting. In fact, even though I enjoyed the episode as a whole, and really loved the performances given to us by the actors, I think the Fringe storyline could have done without this episode. We didn't really learn much that hasn't already been explained or implied, or that could be learned from our present storyline. And while I love Peter and Olivia together, I just didn't totally buy into the fact that they needed to have met as children for us to believe that their relationship was special or destined
