I take it you watched the original Nikita? I didn’t, so I’m coming into this with no clue. I’m liking the show thus far, but I also recognize that I’m having no problem digesting the handwavium. Division does come across as… not terribly competent.
I also thought Alex was going to get the red dress. And I also think Michael’s actor is terrible. But pretty, hahaha. I envision some Michael/Alex ridiculousness in the future.
I did. I'm trying not to be one of those annoying old-skool fans, but somehow that isn't working so far. Maybe once the show develops more, becomes its own brand of fun, I won't have to compare!
The red dress, in the USA series, was an iconic one, worn by Nikita in her first 'valentine' mission (that is, where she has to seduce the target). I liked the little callback to the original show, but the almost rape left a bad taste in my mouth.
That promo is so much win. Fringe is totally working the momentum for the season premier. I don't know how much more of this waiting I can take! ♥~Superhero~♥
I JUST saw the latest episode of Warehouse 13 (now I get the "many of my lovers were men" comment. LOL, MYKA'S KNOWING SMILE, I DIED) and FLAIL. I wasn't going to get fannish about this show, but DAMN. I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE WATCHING THIS SHOW SO I HAVE SOMEONE TO TALK TO.
she will take Myka and Pete along with her when she builds that Time Machine and accidentally ends up in, I don't know, ancient Egypt. Or a world with dinosaurs. Or perhaps a distant apocalyptic future, I'd like that too
Olivia is just... Stuck in an alternate universe where your enemies are torturing you and driving you insane, and she *still* finds a way to rescue herself because she's awesome like that. And then she blows stuff up, a woman after my own heart. ♥
I never had ANY intention of watching Warehouse 13, but then HG Wells came along, literally sweeping people off their feet (you've seen it, right? the grappling gun?) and dressing up as Lara Croft while being conflicted and morally ambiguous. How could I resist? I fangirl her harder than Myka, which is saying something. I was the kid who devoured books like The War of the Worlds and The Time Machine and wanted to be an adventuress/explorer. HG is like a childhood hero come to life, only more awesome because she's actually a woman, who Did Stuff in spite of the limitations placed upon her by the society!
WHY AREN'T YOU WRITING THIS FIC FOR ME RIGHT NOW?
I BARELY KNOW THE FANDOM. But I am having fun imagining it.
I totally agree on the cringeworthy Michael. Was he actually *rolling his eyes* at his boss?
And Percy wasn't just sending out an untrained, untried, unbriefed op on a 'valentine op' - he was pimping her out because she was untrained and so expendable. He didn't give a shit if the bad guy of the week raped her.
Moral complexity isn't just hiding, it fled for another universe.
So, out of curiosity (and b/c I'm working on another fic and needed some info!) I hauled out my S1 DVDs of 'our' LFN and just re-watched ep 1.
It was better, from the very beginning - more interesting filming, less info dumping, more mystery, better soundtrack. And better M/N chemistry. Though, I did like MQ's grin at Michael before the subway train arrived. ;-)
But, I am interested in the Nikita/Alex story - and so I'll give it a bit longer.... and think about watching Alias. lol!
Also - definitely going to get back into Fringe....
He rolled his eyes, smirked (badly) and had these ridiculous facial twitches that were incredibly off-putting. Here's hoping the acting improves in the course of the season. I'm enjoying Maggie Q's Nikita, all said and done, so I'd like for Michael to be slightly more interesting than this one.

I don't even know. *shakes head* Here's hoping there's no more 'almost rapes' in the future episodes.
I didn't think Shane West could get any worse, but somehow he did. His attempts at looking "conflicted" about the Alex situation were comical.
I agree that the "almost rape" of Alex was icky, and it's made even ickier by the fact that it's obvious Percy didn't care. But the question is, would Paul have put trainee!Nikita in a similar situation? I mean, obviously Nikita would have broken that guy's neck and not cowered behind a table, but still. Paul was obviously more morally complex than this guy, but I don't think what Percy did was at all beyond the pale for the "Operations" character.
I don't think Paul would put any of his operatives in that kind of a position, not necessarily because he would feel bad about it, but because it's such a stupid, sloppy thing to do - jeopardize the entire mission because your target tries to rape an untrained greenhorn who can't even defend herself and your other operatives have to break position to 'rescue' her. It doesn't make sense.
