Intrada's new 3 CD set of Basil Poledouris' epic score for Conan the Barbarian represents for me the end of a journey that was begun in earnest on January 1 of 1991 with the purchase of the MCA Records cassette of the original soundtrack album. It's strange, I've been listening to this constantly as well, having just sat down and rewatched the film last week. The score is about as perfect for a film as any I've seen. And I really love the film and a much deeper level than I did when I first saw it as a kid. There's a lot there, if you look for it.

I'm happy they're finally letting the old bastard rule Aquilonia soon. And I'm even more excited that they're pretending Conan the Destroyer never existed.

We’ll see what happens with this movie. I'm not too optimistic, and unfortunately a key ingredient for a new film in this Conan franchise - a new Basil Poledouris score - will be missing. I’m worried about how the filmmakers will handle this.

I’d love to see a composer write an original score primarily in their own style but incorporate Poledouris’ themes, including the Conan theme from the second film, which deserved a better film (and a better performance, but we now have that courtesy of Tadlow and Prometheus).
