HAPPY NEW YEAR! Good luck with the cat search. Our best cats have all been rescues, and our best rescues have all been Maine Coons.

I was surprised to find I had actually lost weight over the holiday season I spent away from home - I attribute that to portion control alone as I denied myself nothing - but with the new year (and I mean that simply that my wife finally STOPS BAKING more than any "resolution") comes a re-commitment to everything which we made work so well in 2010.

I can't imagine 2011 being less than twice was 2010 was.

I do not find my way around LJ nearly as much as I once did. I visit friends here on a limited basis. (I don't mean to sound infirm or something, it is just that other social media and all sorts of other online stuff calls.) Anyway, your birthday greeting above is shocking, but in a good way. So thanks, even if there is a level of irony involved. I like irony, after all. I got about 25 greetings over at Facebook, where I've been hanging out more. But as that has become a place for pictures of grandkids and ghosts from high schools past I think I'll start hanging at LJ again. I mean, I am a writer and it is sort of a big electronic memo pad, gazette and -- oh yeah, journal. See you around.
