The Days and Nights of the Jasmine Dragon

My work BlackBerry started acting up a couple of weeks ago. The click wheel had been very worn down and so it was very difficult to make the proper menu selections and worse, it would periodically crash for no reason. And when I say no reason, I mean that it will sometimes crash without cause whilst in the holster. I spoke about it to my manager ( Read more... )

It's so unfortunate that Mako died before the completion of the series. Iroh is easily one of my favorite characters too, and I have to wonder if he wouldn't have had quite such a reduced role in season 3 if they hadn't had to replace the actor.

It is indeed a shame that Mako could not finish the series, although I do wonder from both a plot and a mythic perspective how much bigger his role in the third season would be even if he was still around. Iroh in jail was a pretty impressive story thread, so even if he would have had more dialogue, it was definitely a case of getting lemons and making lemonade.

I loved this character and his whole "Life happens wherever you are, whether you make it or not" approach to the world now. A great character and backstory. His segment of "Tales of Ba Sing Se" would have been heartbreaking even if it hadn't been dedicated to Mako at the end.

Glad you enjoyed it. And yeah, The Tale of Iroh was getting me all verklempt at the end, realizing the song he sang earlier had the double meaning, and what day it was, and then the "In Honor of Mako" popped up, and suddenly I got something in my eye.

Sokka ties Iroh for my favorite.

Yeah, that was very powerful for both the story and character aspects, but also on the meta level.

Sokka is my other favorite; I like how he becomes the man he's trying to be at the beginning of the series. The "Sokka's Master" episode was fantastic.

You may arch your eyebrow and say "that's an old phone," and you'd be right. On the other hand, it is a hell of a lot nicer than the one I had before, and is inherently better than your phone because the service is free.

Mine to. My standard response to the same inquiry is, "Yep. But I haven't paid a cell phone bill in 10 years." MUAHAHAHAHAHA!
