As some of you may already have noticed, I have posted the cover art and updated the composer compilations section or my mix list to reflect my newest project, which is now complete. Ooh, I'm looking forward to hearing more about Middle Aged Barry :)

What are your thoughts on the Silva Screen rerecording of TLIW and Mary Queen of Scots?

I'm have posted the liner notes for the album.

The Silva Recordings are pretty good. I hadn't picked The Lion In Winter up for a while because I love the original soundtrack recording and was pretty satisfied with it, and I have to admit that for the most part, I still prefer that over the new recording. But it's definitely well-done, and the additional material, as little of it as there is, nevertheless is quite nice. Mary, Queen of Scots is more of a concert piece than a representation of the score (which isn't a bad thing). I'll be honest however, and mention that the performance, while creditable, is not perfect. The recordings of the main title and "We're All Jungle Creatures" on my mix are actually from the suite that appeared on Silva's Cinema Choral Classics, which featured a slightly better performance of those two cues.

I have to say that I prefer the Silva recording of Robin and Marian over the Prometheus as I find the sonics of the latter to be too pinched for this music. The performance is rather good, and it gets ( ... )
