Are you familiar with The President's Lady at all? It's the only one among the latest batch that looks like a potential purchase to me--the samples sounded very nice, though "one of Alfred Newman’s greatest scores" is a difficult comment to live up to.

Not really that familiar with it, no. I listened to the sound samples and decided that it was low priority, although good... were it a larger pressing, I would wait on it, right now I have to let it go what with the promise of big stuff from La La Land and Prometheus. I love getting new David Shire music, however, and the more I hear of Jay Chattaway, the more I like.

Both Intradas were no-brainers for me.

I actually haven't heard much David Shire music, nor much of Chattaway's non-Star Trek work. Newman was my introduction to Golden Age music, though, when I happened upon the thunderous opening of How the West Was Won and started snapping up more and more from him.

I hope you ordered the Chattaway disc, because it's gone already! Looking at the last few batches, it doesn't seem like the Varèse Club releases are selling out as quickly as they have in the past, but the 1000-copy LP reissues still go right away.

I have to admit that I run hot and cold on Alfred Newman (and Dimitri Tiomkin for that matter). Some stuff I adore, other things not so much. How the West Was Won is awesome, obviously, but some of his other work just...

I always felt that Chattaway was one of the best Star Trek spin-off composers. I've not heard much else from him, but I liked the sound samples.

I've been a huge David Shire fan ever since I first saw The Conversation (which if you haven't seen, you should make a priority for several different reasons). Favorites also include Farewell My Lovely and Max Dugan Returns (the latter of which is so sprightly it is a sure-fire way to clear up a blue funk).

Pulp Muppets... those were some great choices. I especially loved Gonzo, Camilla, and Sam the Eagle.

Sam was priceless. For me it was Dr. Teeth as Marcellus Wallace (of course), Beaker as Butch (huh?) and my favorite, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew as Winston Wolf (yeah). And Eric Stoltz.

I need a muppet icon.
