Hmm. Interesting.

No, wait, who am I fooling with this nonchalance? What I really wanted to say was:

MARCO! YAY! ♥♥♥

*glee*

(Only sparklies can fully express the extent of my happiness. And bathtubs, but that's a whole different story.)

I understand. The sparklies are the best way to express your celebratory mood with your clothes on.

I shouldn't be as gleeful as I am that Giacchino's been nominated as I am.

What is it with the Academy having such a musical crush on Alan Menken? I know they can be lazy with the song nominations, but this is bordering on the absurd...

It's because Menken is an easy and safe choice who also has the Disney juggernaut behind him. It makes him a default nominee.

My pick of the songs would be the selection from Once, which is not only a good song, but since the film is about the creation of music, it is more relevant to the structure of the film than the others. Of course, once again, I doubt that will be a consideration, in the same way that if Giacchino wins, it won't be because Ratatouille is a delightful score (which is absolutely is) but because just happened to be attached to a Disney picture.
