Mandala in the Clouds

Like an addict waiting for his dealer to come through, I sat refreshing Intrada's home page to make sure that I got a copy of the (easily guessed) release of Bruce Broughton's delightful score for Harry and the Hendersons. Now, when most people think of the term "Harry and the Hendersons" today, it evokes images of male genitalia the tragic Kevin ( Read more... )

I love my Total Recall score.

And e-mail notifications for a lot of people are delayed, or being blocked by overzealous (I know the term is redundant) spam blocking services. You might check with your service provider about it.

Indeed... I think that Total Recall got me through high school the same way that Metallica did for the metalheads...

Hmmmm.... The e-mail notifications might be being delayed, but I've never found any LJ message to be mistaken for spam in the past; the domain is on my safe list.

Aha! The e-mails are being weeded out before they even get to my personal filters. This is new, and rather annoying. I've switched the notifications over to my Gmail account.

Thanks for the info!

I'm finding the third season BSG soundtrack subtle and complex. There's so much to listen for. I've had to put it away for a while. Its too demanding.

I also, have been listening to it back-to-back with the mini-series. I find them on par with one another, at least in tempo. I was honestly expecting a continuation of the last album. I like this better, but its exhausting.

Now. You're looking at now sir. Everything that happens now, is happening now.

Actually, having listened yesterday to the second season followed by the third, I can say with some certainty that it is very much a continuation of the previous disc (if one listens in succession with no break, the transition from one disc to the other is actually extremely smooth)... however, as you say, from the point of view of tempo and tone, it has much in common with more mysterious mini-series disc than the more dramatic second season. There are few moments that recall the first season, too... the opening of "Storming New Caprica" sounds like "Battle on the Asteroid" on steroids.

It was also interesting how subtly pervasive Starbuck's theme is on the new album... while it was present but muted in season two, it appears in many of the season three tracks, often in a very different form than previously heard.

right after a discussion of the... er... merits of the score with melancthe

Let it never be said that I'm not here to provide wenchy insight into things that might not otherwise have, er, wenchy insight applied to them. :D
