While I had made five discs and worked on a sixth over the past month and a half, in each case, I didn't set out to do so, and the same is true here. I wasn't even thinking about making another disc or anything. Then I had an idea... the discs I had been working on all featured big, bombastic music. this sounds like a neat mix! I'd like to watch TIME AFTER TIME, as I've never seen it. As for your pr-logic II comment, I often find some of my older DVDS with 2.0 or 4.0 soundtracks to have a very pleasant aural experience, particularly DAVE with James Newton-Howard's score.

A lot of films from the 80s and 90s were mixed in Dolby Stereo, which is essentially the same process as Dolby Surround. The sound effects and music were often mixed so that the phase shift would directionalize the sound towards the rear. Often when they remaster these tracks for 5.1, those effects aren't transfered properly as they aren't discrete. There are many DVDs that the 2.0 track represents better what the film is supposed to sound like. 'Course, Dolby 2.0... and 5.1 for that matter... still don't sound as good as the Linear PCM tracks on a laserdisc, though...

I happen to like Dolby Pro-Logic II because it tends to have the correct soundfield for items recorded in old school Pro-Logic, but with additional directionality for the spread across the rear.
