I was in an accident on the way to work.
I figured that I hadn't driven to work in quite a while, with the rain and everything it would be a nice change of pace. A big van stopped short in front of me, I had no recourse but to slam on the brakes. The road was too wet and I rammed into the back of the van. The van itself had almost no physical marks, save a slightly bent license plate. I moved over to the side of the highway, but they kept driving. I followed them but they got off the highway and it was too foggy to see their plate. The hood of my car is bent, and that seems to be the extent of the damage to my car. I'm not sure it matters; I would have been found as being at fault, even though there was nothing I could have done, so if it never goes anywhere other than a shop to get a new hood, I think I might be okay.
However, anybody who has been in an accident knows that you feel that impact go through you, and I am still reeling from it. I haven't been in an accident in many years, and I was rather happy to keep it that way.
The fates clearly had other ideas.
