I am always uncomfortable whenever any of my friends that I "know everything about soundtracks." It is true that I know a lot about film music, but while I will usually know something about everything with regards to film music, nobody can know everything about anything. One of the ironies of any type of study is that the more one knows, the more ( Read more... )

Let me know how Witchcraft turns out. I was interested to hear Scott do something "heavy" - but the album art looks like a z-grade 80s metal LP.

Witchcraft is awesome! "Heavy" is right, and it's great stuff!

The cover does look dumb, but there are a lot of good liner notes in the booklet - actually all of the JOS releases I have have good notes.

I wonder if I can get King Kong Lives on CD...

Like you've said (I think) - the LP is readily available on the cheap but the CD is nigh impossible to find. I have a CD/R of it from a friend, but haven't seen the score on CD (even on Ebay) for anything close to a reasonable price.

I have (and love) the LP... and I have mp3s of the CD... but I would like to have it full bandwidth. That Kong theme is great stuff, I love how moving he can make material that he builds and develops in action cues.

I'm sure I have expressed my deep affection for Antony and Cleopatra before. And I know it makes me tragically mainstream, but I love, love, LOVE The Final Countdown so much. I always play it when I'm blah and angsty and it's good at cheering me up.

I like Scott very much. Ah, if only he was teh hot. < /shallow > :)

You did mention Antony and Cleopatra a few months ago. I listened to it the other night and I will admit, it crossed my mind whether you found it swoony or not. Haven't gotten to The Final Countdown yet, but I really dug the samples that I've heard thus far.

Do you have any other Scott recommendations; all I have by him is what's in this entry, but really into it thus far.

What. WHAT.

I thought this was one of those scores that "everyone has heard". Holy crap.
