That is so terribly sad. It was so close to the life she's always wanted, and she was still miserable! It really emphasises one of the big themes of the novel - the inability to run away from who you are. All the characters, from Grubbs to Kernel, have learned that the hard way.

Yeah, I would like to think that Juni could've had a happy life were she not taken by Beranabus, but another side of my head (probably a more realistic side considering the plot ^^) says that no matter what happened she was probably going to have a lousy life anyway, in some ways I think that she was probably better off with Beranabus because at least she was making a difference.

...I'm getting ideas for something vaguely involving all the people she wouldn't have saved had she not gone with Beranabus now, please stop me.
