i used to know people like that (always complaining about the government, the world is shit etcetc) and yeah i think it's good to care about stuff like that but when you're just gonna sit there & complain & not do anything about it then what is the point? i know it's "ignorant" of me but sometimes i just don't wanna watch the news, i don't wanna hear the bad stuff going on in the world because there is nothing i can do about it, and i need to learn to be happy with my own life because at least that is something i CAN control.

Please do steal that quote! It's genius. I think it was Epictetus that said to only abide life doing the best with what you can affect and not to sweat the rest. If you worry about it too much, you'll just be stressed. :\
