-It's always weird reading a graphic novel based on a TV show or movie (I'm thinking of your comments about the Firefly GNs here. I think it adds this extra, hyper-critical layer when you look at the artwork (of the sort where you can't help saying "that looks nothing like him/her/it - ergo this whole thing sucks and I am suspending any belief in it" :-)
-I can't believe you've never read the Charlie books before (Dahl)!! My Dad used to threaten me with the Vermicious Knids if I misbehaved...
-I just read the first volume of Itazura Na Kiss the other day myself, and quite enjoyed it. It does look really, really dated, you're right on that - even more so than HYD, I think. I look forward to seeing how the artwork evolves. And as to Naoki's slow-growing attraction to Kotoko: the ( ... )

- I try to give artist's some slack in media tie-in GNs. Like, if it looks like the actor most of the time, I usually am okay with it, but when someone's just really wrong, it pulls me out of the story.
- I don't know how I missed them growing up!
- Yes, I meant that as well about Naoki's attraction to her. I hope it didn't come across another way...
