Smallville has returned at last! We had to wait an extra week for this particular episode but I was just happy to get the show back. I missed seeing Clois on my TV. Here are my thoughts.
Yay! I'm glad to hear that other people enjoyed the episode too. :)
Especially thought it was realistic of Clark to NOT believe in Chloe automatically :) Exactly. I was worried how they'd handle her return but I was pleased that she had to prove herself to everyone. Very realistic.
God I loved this episode, all the Clark/Lois/Oliver/Chloe made me smile so much and I am just happy to have Chloe back, I can't see this show end without her, and I feel like her friendship with Clark is something that is so strong and amazing, I love to see it being picked back up.
I admit I haven't watched Season 9 so I wasn't sure how I would feel about Oliver/Chloe but its so beautiful.
The episode was really great and it's good to hear from others who liked it too. I have been frustrated with Chloe's characterization in the past couple of seasons, but I thought she was really good here. I hope that she and Clark can work things out and get back on the right track, which they seem to be on, before she leaves again.
I have to second what theclexfactor said. You should watch s9. It was amazing. And yeah, I really liked the Chloe/Oliver. I shipped them for a while and their reunion was sweet.
You're so right about the relationships. And I really do love that Chlollie scene near the end where Oliver tells her how difficult it's been for him the last few months. I didn't feel a sense of him forgiving her there, but more a feeling of, okay, I've said my piece, now let's work it out and see where we go from here. I love what Chloe said to Clark about trust. And it says a lot about Clark's friendship with Lex too, in that Lex (not to mention Lana) demanded Clark's secrets, making it perfectly clear he didn't trust Clark, whereas Chloe suspected but didn't spell it out in so many words. That was a good scene for me.

He was happy that she was back, but he hasn't forgotten how much pain he's been through without her these past few months and she needed to hear it. I felt it was very mature and well handled.

That was great and I also thought of both Lex and Lana when she was talking. It proves why Chloe and Clark's friendship was so much stronger and survived, unlike the other two, though Clark & Lana never had much of a friendship.
hey hon! thought id stop by and give some of my thoughts...
well, i did like this episode, and i like that chloe is back, which i admit i wasnt expecting. it was done well, everything just seemed to fit. i particularly liked chloe's "neo" moments (the matrix)
erica wwas gorge, tom was gorge, olly was gorge, dinah was a little...under the weather? but still, 3/4 aint bad, and its not like she was the crypt keeper or anything.
only part of the plot i didnt get was...if the rules of the virtual world were based on what the people in it believed, then what exactly had them believe that they had no powers or skills? i mean i'd assume if i woke up inside a virtual world and didn't know it, i wouldn't lose any of my skills or talents...i mean why would i? maybe im missing something though.
great review, and im so happy that you're so happy with the ep...im also pretty happy with it too!

I knew she'd be back, through spoilers and trailers and I agree it was handled well. I liked her Matrix scenes because they were realistic for her skill set.

Everyone looked good. I hate Dinah's Black Canary make-up but I appreciate the longer hair. Before, she and Ollie looked like twins, with the spiky blond look
( ... )
oh no i just meant i wasnt expecting her comeback to be done in a way that fitted so well...or in a way i liked hehehe
i also favoured classic canary stylinz! she used to look like that girl from Popular...wow, how do i remember that godawful show?
so they cyber-surgically implanted a belief-based block on their powers, that wasn't really there...if only they would believe it? im still a bit sketchy on it...but whatevz, i liked the ep!
Oh, okay. That makes sense. Yeah, I think it was handled very well and I was impressed because it could've been so much worse.
i also favoured classic canary stylinz! she used to look like that girl from Popular...wow, how do i remember that godawful show? I don't think I ever saw Popular but yeah, I just like the long hair. Dinah looks so much prettier with it.

I would have to watch the show again but Chloe explained it. I can't remember what she said. Well, I think that something similar happened in 'Labyrinth', back in season 6, where the phantom trapped Clark in his own mind and he was stuck in a mental hospital w/o his powers. Either way, it worked. Considering all the crazy that has happened, I give them a bit of leeway.
