ryo_girl had this on her LJ and I got it from her. A transcript of Obama's speech! I had to post it here because it really did move me. :)

I liked both McCain's and Obama's speeches, but man-oh-man, can Obama ever stir up emotions when he speaks. Articulate, thoughtful, well-timed ... everything he says has impact because he appears to measure every word carefully. Oh, and his speech writers are GOLD!

I've never heard him speak before, and it was a moving experience.

I thought McCain gave a very good speech. And Obama was just really moving. Obama, like you said, just manages to stir up emotions! It's just he's so genuine and I can believe him. Plus, his family is adorable. :D

I love hearing him speak and I'm glad to hear you got to listen to him and enjoyed it! :D

I'm far too cynical to ever think a politician is ever 'so genuine' when speaking. The process itself is so well calculated and the speakers are groomed and tested relentlessly throughout it that I will never 'trust' or have 'great confidence' in what they say.

Having said that, the leader of a country must be able to speak confidently and project the image of being genuine. In that, I believe Obama will excel. Also, he is a great symbol for what CAN be achieved by anyone.

Don't get me wrong; I don't think he's NOT genuine; I'm just too old and jaded to BELIEVE it without seeing him in action.

I hope he's everything Americans want and need him to be.

I guess I'm still young because I do want to believe that some of them mean what they say.

I think not only does Obama speak confidently, he's able to connect with people, which is a very good trait to have. He got the 18-24 demographic to go vote. And all types of people seem to like him too.

I hope he's everything Americans want and need him to be.

I hope so too. :)

Wow! That's one hell of a speech.
I found it so moving and I'm not even American! lol!

to those who would tear the world down: We will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security: We support you.
What a beautiful and hopeful statment. I really liked that line.

He so does! And I love listening to him speak. It'll be nice to have a president who can actually speak well, huh? ;D
