Jacob took a deep breath of clean air before he entered the cabin, expecting the vampire stink to instantly come to meet him. It'd just be a quick in and out, getting rid of what he didn't need before he took off into the preserve for the night.
Except that the scent wasn't the only unpleasant thing and he stopped just inside the door. Something was making his skin crawl, making him feel uneasy for a reason he couldn't grasp. All his senses sharpened as he tried to figure out what the hell was going on.
Dru had been warding one of the windows near the door when Jacob came in. "Hey," she said lowering the wand. "You wouldn't believe how I spent the last two days."
"How?" Dru repeated, confused. "I have no idea how or why I turned into a cat. It was just weird."
Noticing his glance, Dru gestured towards the rest of the cabin. "I think we're the only ones around at the moment although that's subject to change in anyone pings in."
"No witch. Anybody can do this, it just takes focus." And a fairly strong force of will. The other stuff Dru could do? The Touch and all that it entailed, that was just getting lucky and being gifted with a little bit extra.
Dru made use of that gift to try and get a sense of the other girl she vaguely recognized from Kerrigan's class. The taste of wax oranges and salt she'd barely registered in class was much stronger now ans she swallowed, trying to get the taste from her mouth.

"Warding the place. Is there a problem?" Yes, Dru was still a little on edge after the conversation with Jacob.
