After much deliberation, I chose Could End Up A Story by fryadvocate for this week's story.

The story is set in the future, with the summary simply being: Chloe meets Gotham by accident, on her way from one story to the next. This story has a lot to like. There's reporter!Chloe, an interesting mystery, Batman, Catwoman, Superman, and, oh, a bit of Chlark. ( Read more... )

This was quite a complicated story, but in the end, it's Chloe who knows and understands Lex Luthor, and who gets the story on him.

The Batman/Catwoman interactions freked me out a bit because they always seemed quite angry with each other which makes for a passionate relatonship, but not always a happy one.

It is a complicated story, but I adore the plot, with its twists and turns. Although I think I more enjoy the insights into Chloe as an adult then the plot, to be honest. My Chlarky heart is a big fan of Chloe and Clark being together in the future. And even more, I like how fryadvocate didn't make Chlark perfect.

Batman/Catwoman was a little freaky. But I enjoyed it!

I've been meaning to comment on this story. I read this awhile ago and I adored the detail. I found myself totally immersed in the plot and I love it when stories place Chloe in the D.C. continuity because she can and does fit into it effortlessly.

Although there isn't as much Chlark in the story as I would like, it was a very realistic portrayal of how their relationship could work in the future with prior history of Lois and Clark. I found it interesting how the author weaved Chloe's relationship insecurities throughout the story without making Chloe seem angsty or mopey. It really was an excellent portrayal of an adult Chloe.

I've read this story a few things and every time the plot drags me in. I think that's pretty impressive and I have a lot of respect for writers who can do that.

There isn't a lot of Chlark, but I kinda like how Chloe is center-stage. Lots of futurefics focus on the romance, which is fine, but I do enjoy a plot-driven story that weaves in romance without overwhelming the reader.

It is interesting how the writer did that. I felt like you got glimpses into the life Chloe leads without those glimpses overpowering the story. The author manages to work in some excellent insights into adult Chloe and her insecurities about her relationship with Clark without, as you said, making Chloe seem angsty or mopey.

I think, though, what always stands out the most for me is the last bit, when Chloe and Clark reunite. I can just see that scene in my head and to me it was the perfect ending.
