I haven't seen King Kong yet, but apparently one scene is set in our very own Civic Theatre! I'm now looking forward to it extra.

Well I thought it was cool anyway. Normally even if you see a place you know in a movie, it's completely unrecognisable in the movie. This'll be one of the few "that really is a recognisable place in my city" moments. Plus seeing it destroyed should be interesting. ;)

The Civic looks so much like... well, it really looks that it took me out of the film for a few minutes, thinking it looked totally anachronistic. Then I realised that the Civic really does look convincingly '30s as is. I've been telling people that it will quickly become a cherished cult experience to watch Kong at the Civic whenever possible.
