That's a wonderful thing to make teens aware of. Having worked with a lot of teens, generally this stems from having lived with violence in the home first, whether they saw it or they lived it. I just hurt for some of these kids.

But it's not just those kids who've been been exposed. The reason I got behind this movement is because several years ago when my oldest daughter had just started dating, her very first boyfriend was hurting her. She'd never been exposed to violence before and comes from a steady, loving two parent family. She's smart and quick to defend others. But it started off with small control issues, graduating to what she wore, who she talked to, then to pinches, and ended with a punch to the stomach. She never said a word to me and we are very, very close. One of her friends told her mother and her mother called me, thank God. Her father and I intervened and got her away from the boy and through hours and hours of talking and counseling with her youth pastor, we got to the bottom of why she didn't tell ( ... )
