One thing about the ports -- since shipping is the main means to move goods and make money in these areas, businesses and people naturally converge around the ports. In olden times the ships carried both the goods as well as the news, so early newspapers also congregated around the port area.

Yes, we should be able to go from end to end...basta we have this interesting idea on how to take it away from the PPA's jurisdiction. Problem kasi with PPA, they're the regulator, operator, and owner of the ports. Conflict of interest diba. So sabi namin, let the private sector operate the ports. Dapat landlord nalang sila.
Yes, agree about business converging around the area. That's precisely what our model is all about. Sabi namin, make the port a port of entry so that business will come in. Tapos ripple effect na yun. Problema kasi sa mga LGUs din minsan, gusto nila mabilisan lang so kung ano anong regulatory fees ang sinisingil nila citing the Local Government Code as basis. Yun lang ksi ang naisip nila na way na kikita ang LGU. Hindi nila maisip na more traffic means more business, investments, employment, taxes. Sabi namin magland banking na lang sila. Ako nga naiisip ko rin minsan, bili nalang kaya ako ng property sa isang probinsya hehehe
