Two thoughts (read that as defenses or excuses) went through my head:
1. It has been a bit longer since I was in a science environment.
2. I only learned about the four elements of earth, air, fire, and water when I was in the 8th grade - back when physics was just a branch of chemistry. (I liked this excuse better!)

Compared to my students, I am. Compared to me, YOU are. So in this case, YOU are the old man. :P
Though I tell my brother the same thing. :D
