ughhh, i just have a lot of feelings about elementary okay. and a lot of feelings about sherlock holmes. and maybe also about feminism, though i'll try to keep that on the d/l.

I think I sort of lost the plot in between various rantings :p but my point wasn't so much that there are interesting women in Sherlock Holmes, but more that there are women that Holmes himself found interesting or clever or confounding, and that consistently venerating Irene above all of them seems a bit lazy to me.

But then again, I suppose it's a matter of taste. People like who they're gonna like. And I don't really dislike her, I just like her best as an ordinary woman who played on Holmes's gigantic blind spot by being an ordinary woman. I feel like no one finds that interesting enough, and that's what sort of gets to me. Being an ordinary woman is plenty interesting.
