I like the mix of canons. It's a good way to expand plots and characters.

And I think we need to start a "comma abuse" club.

The Internet Club, Against the Abuse, of the Comma.

Seriously, proofing my fic involves combing through and removing about half the commas I seemed to think were necessary the first time around :(

Canon mixing for the win! In stuff that has man incarnations, I see no problem at all with mixing and matching. In fact, it's kind of like finding Easter Eggs when someone mentions an ACD story fact into a BBC fic, for example.

I also have sentences that are too long and have too many commas! We need a support group or something.

Aahhhhh, your icon is the visual equivalent of this, and it is MAGICAL.

I think for people who are familiar with all the incarnations of Sherlock Holmes it's not a problem, but sometimes I worry that it's confusing for people who are only into sbbc. Like I'm going to either mention something, or assume something is true and write from that point and they'll be like 'hold up, when did that even happen?'. But I'm with you though, I love when it happens in other people's stuff. A surprising amount of the most recent batch of entries at thegameison_sh had references to Swizerland or waterfalls. Not even Reichenbach, just that. That was pretty great :)

Alright, comma club. You, me, girlingoldboots, founding members!
