He was even grosser to the other writer and her fic detailed before mine, to the point where he was referencing very personal posts in which she felt was safe to open up about. If I wrote similarly of Shosanna, Fredrick, my very personal feelings and otherwise, he'd use that for fodder, too.

He just came stomping into spaces populated mostly by women and he hurled his middle-aged white man opinions around as if they mean something just because he teaches in a college and has a Ph.D. in white man nonsense.

He got so uncomfortably thorough in the reading of the other author that I had to tell her about it. Herzog was definitely reading through our journals and the IB communities for a very long period of time (over year with hers, that's for certain). He treated it so clinically, like studying wild animals. I am sort of amused though that once again, some middle-aged guy on the internet is amazed at the idea of fan fiction and he must voice his surprise at as many people as possible.

Be glad for that! He seemed to be most critical of chaptered fic, following along with it and then reading any and all posts in between those (and I'm so glad I kept all my personal posts back then locked up).

It really bothered me that he referred to you as "he", too, as well as his overall disrespect for you. I didn't feel I was as disrespected as you were, but it really sounds to me like he spent much more time on all of my posts than on yours. But he obviously knows NOTHING about fanfic if he could refer to you as male--I mean, at least 95% (perhaps more) of fanfiction is written by women, and the other 5% by gay men! TBH, I doubt that ANY straight men write fanfiction.

I have not heard back from the publisher yet, but I'll keep you posted. BTW, I love your real name--it's my sister's middle name. I've always loved it.

If I don't hear back from the publisher by the end of this week, I'm going to e-mail them again with my phone number.
