You know, I don't think it occurred to me until now that Gmail is still in beta.

Other things that I'm signed up for that are open to pretty much anyone, work, and yet are still in beta: LibraryThing, PMOG, and Twilight Heroes. (I think. Any of them might have been taken out of beta, but when I signed up all those things were true.) And there are probably others I don't remember. It seems to be a trend.

Yeah, you don't really think about it. There's even a trend of always being in beta but still being stable because no product is going to be perfect. I believe Flickr does this and calls it Flickr Gamma or something like that. It's definitely a trend. Google just loves to keep things in beta forever.
