animazement wasn't quite so amazing

This past weekend was our state's little anime convention; Animazement. I went with an animal/polka dot theme except my bunny ears didn't stay on well for Friday, and Andy told me the bear ears were silly on Satuday.... so I still had polka dots! Friday afternoon we went out for sushi at Sono, which was outstanding

We've been to Animazement three times. By the third one, I was kinda 'meh.' Some of the attendees were just driving me nuts, and the dealer's room lost much of it's luster because I realized how much they marked everything up. Was the English voice actor for Asuka (from Eva) there again... AGAIN? haha

I'd like to go to a bigger one someday, but I found that if I don't cosplay, I don't have nearly as much fun as if I do, and I don't know if I could afford a cosplay hobby on top of my current hobbies haha. I think it would be pretty cool to see Kanon Wakeshima though.

I was in the same situation last year. I had to wander around by myself for most of the con and felt really lonely. I had some of the other doll collectors but got really bored.

We are planning to head to Otakon so if you are able to come give me a hollar. Not all of my friends are into the whole lolita thing.

I've (finally) learned that you get the most enjoyment from events like this if you plan as if the entertainment were ultimately up to you. Stuff that helps is getting contact info for everyone that you know that is going, figuring out ahead of time what you're going to do. Rule one is never go to an event unless you're really stoked about it and never go without a clear plan of what you're going to do
