It seems like it would have been better for you to have been late in Oxford to reach the station just before 0901. But in that case, you would have missed all the amusement there was (along with this post ;) )

Ideally, I would have reached the station at about 8.30, just as they repaired the points at Didcot, which still would have got me to London in time for the start of my meeting, but with an extra hour's sleep.
But then, like you say, less amusement for the rest of you (whoever you are ;)
