Sound system - the saga continues

 Earlier this week, I asked you for help with a sound system.  And you were wonderful.  So today, I returned to the system to remove the offending box and set up an interim solution.  It seems that we can use the static mic (mounted behind the speakers) and the lapel radio mic, but the karaoke-style mic causes feedback.  So, with a bit of ( Read more... )

Hmmm... it would seem that two other firms make automatic feedback destroyers, but they're (just) outside your price range:

Behringer kit is generally excellent value for money, but they sometimes have build-quality issues.

PSU issues: I'd be surprised if power-cycling was the cause of the PSU failure, to be honest, unless the system's being power-cycled a lot (several times daily). I suppose it's possible that when the system is switched off at the socket, a big spike of power from the inductors in the PSU of the PA amp gets dumped into the input stages of the PSUs of the other units in the rack, which might explain it. By all means try switching everything off individually - although you might have to be careful in what order to do things so as to avoid making wierd noises through the speakers. This is best found out through experiment!

My partner John John thinks he has what is the older version of this Behringer unit and uses it as a feedback destroyer in his band. He was recommended to get this and it works fine.
