Advanced ECDL - databases

Databases today.  Definitely the most tricky yet - although I was also starting from a base of almost no previous knowledge.  I certainly would have struggled if we'd taken the exam in the morning, but three practice papers later, I was well prepared.  There's one question that I might have got partly wrong, but I'm pretty sure that I got ( Read more... )

Ah, poor Susz - welcome to the consistent over-achiever problem. People start to expect you to over-achieve, get things done in ever tighter deadlines and as long as you keep doing it, they fail to properly appreciate it. Like a swan, all graceful on the surface and swimming like mad out of sight. Sometimes it pays to lend managers/supervisors etc. a snorkel so they can see the effort and appreciate the serene top level.

If it is an help, I have the same problem at work where more is constantly expected of me than other people because I always deliver. I think that, like me, you are also pretty much unable to deliberately let people down, so I am not sure there is any help for either of us ;-)

Yeah. On the upside, I know that Lionel does appreciate the work I do (from the reports, and other comments he's made to me and others). But I suspect he doesn't always realise how hard I am actually working when I pull results out of the hat at short notice, and how much the success depends on the previous x months work laying down the foundations.
