I have officially banned Pie R Squared.

Places I have banned
1. Blue Chip Cookie
2. Koerner's Pub (or whatever the fuck it's called)
3. Woodward cafe (the food is just gross)
4. The pasta place in the food court (I've never eaten there, but the woman was incredibly rude to my sister, so it warrants a BAN)
5. Pie R Squared

banned!, rant (2), school (2), things i hate

Alright, let's hear it. What did pie r squared do. You know, besides serving fucked-up ingredients on their pizzas.

I need to know if they make my LIST too. Slowly but surely the entire SUB is pissing me off.

They didn't do anything in particular today, just their usual crap, but enough is enough. The last straw for me was: there were three pizzas that were nearly done-squash and goat cheese; spicy pork; non-spicy pork. When I went up I asked if there were more pizzas coming, and he brought out pork and pineapple. Seriously, why must two out of the three choices be PORK? I asked if he had any that were pork and goat free, and he said in his annoying, CREEPY voice, "no". Their pizzas suck and I don't like the way the guy talks (among tons of other things), thus BANNED.

I sincerely hate UBC. But I do love the women at Caffe Perugia in LSC. They are awesome!

Yeah, that seems to be par for the course with those assholes. Oh, but don't criticize them, they're STUDENT WORKERS! Oh, and they're a GREEN BUSINESS!

Oh, and they're a GREEN BUSINESS!

Having MEAT on almost every goddamn pizza is not "green" (I thought the big push for going green is to have vegetarian or vegan options?).

What did they put on it this time?
Cucumbers?
Grapes?
Dog hair?

I'm just fed up that out of three choices, two are always pork, and the third choice is usally goat cheese. Is it that hard to make a pork-free pizza?! And the guy's voice/way of speaking pisses me off. I'm fed up with UBC.

Squash? WTF?! Squash does not belong on Pizza!!

Re: being green, ya paper plates are really green.

I honestly think they just buy whatever random ingredients are the cheapest (ie the left over crap nearing its best before date that the supplier needs to get rid of) that day and toss them on a pizza.

What can you expect from people who put whole chunks of broccoli on pizza? I'm surprised they haven't tried carrot.

I honestly think they just buy whatever random ingredients are the cheapest (ie the left over crap nearing its best before date that the supplier needs to get rid of) that day and toss them on a pizza.

And then toss on some goat cheese and/or pork.

but...but...cookies? How have they wronged you?

It always bugged me how the single veggie option would have feta on it most of the time.

Their cookies aren't that special, and on the first day of school, someone tried to budge in line and was very rude to me, and the cashier, who saw this, did nothing and was simply going to serve the budger. Also, I couldn't see a price for the cookies.

Oh, they're priced by weight, which is admittedly stupid. And they're usually warm and delicious. I have to eat one every time I'm on campus, which probably has something to do with why I have trouble buying pants that fit. :)

I was new to UBC (although I have had their cookies before, but that was over ten years ago!), and there was no visible sign indicating that they were priced according to weight. And my cookie was not warm or delicious. They totally deserve the ban.

I don't mind pepperoni on a pizza, so I occasionally had some from Pie R Squared for a few months when I first got to UBC, but stopped going a year or two ago after too many bad slices or cases where they had nothing but weird toppings available.

The Delly in the SUB basement has some (IMHO) decent "curry" options, none of which are pork as far as I recall, and for which the line is usually quite short. They also have custom sandwhiches for which the line is usually very long that I've never tried, but which are quite popular (hence the long line). Don't get a samosa, though.

Also, if you're in Woodward or the SUB, then the UBC village isn't very far away, and has many more options of varied quality. The curry place in the village basement is decent, if you don't mind salt, and has some vegetarian options. The chick pea and lentil curries are usually good.

I also don't mind pepperoni on pizza, so will have that option if it's available. However, Pie R Squared even manages to fuck up a pepperoni pizza! Well, it seems that the general consensus is that Pie R Squared sucks!

Thanks for suggesting The Delly; I didn't realize they had curries, as I tend not to venture down there. I don't like samosas anyway!

I do venture out to the village sometimes, usually just to go to Starbucks or the Red Burrito. But it's a pain when you have a lot of studying to do and don't want to leave the building you're in! But good to know about the curries there. Perhaps I will try them next semester.

I second The Delly. If you like sandwiches, theirs are amazing - choice of bread type and all your toppings. The line up is worth it and not so bad if you don't go at a major peak time. A secret? These sandwiches can also be bought (at least when I went there) at Place Vanier Residence's cafeteria.

Unfortunately, I'm not a big sandwich fan!
