Last night was my husband's staff Christmas party, and we had a nice dinner at Earls, which consisted of soup or salad, a main course, and dessert. For the main course, we were given the choice of chicken, salmon, or steak, and I chose the chicken. The chicken had some sauce on it, with chunks of what I thought were vegetables. I put what I thought was a mushroom in my mouth, and to my horror, realized that it was...pork. I spat it out into my napkin, and felt like puking.
This is the description of the chicken dish, from the menu:
Signature Oven Roasted Chicken
served with a seasonal feature sauce
scalloped potatoes & seasonal vegetables
Am I blind, but where does it say there is poison pork smothered all over the chicken? OK, I don't expect them to list every single herb and spice used, but pork is a pretty major thing to omit. It's like ordering a salad with lettuce, tomatoes, and carrots, and then finding out it has beef in it. WTF? I didn't make a scene, but told them that that is a huge omission, and ordered the salmon, after making sure there was no goat cheese (hey, if they don't list pork as an ingredient...) or pork in it. Other than that, the food was good, but I felt so sick, biting into that piece of pork. I just can't believe that they don't think pork is significant enough to list as an ingredient. If I ever go to Earls again, I'm going to make damn sure there aren't any surprises in my food.
