Sam/Jack/Daniel - melancholy (R)niamaeaNovember 5 2007, 21:18:57 UTC
They watch the game in silence, straight through. Usually commercial breaks are reserved for the inevitable remote control custody battles-cum-wrestling matches; sometimes the game stays on, sometimes it doesn’t. Tonight it stays on with no discussion, but Sam, even though hockey's grown on her over the years, barely watches it

Just butting in to say that I'll be compiling a whole index of fic after this coming Sunday, when this thing finally ends. It probably won't be much more than author name, pairing and prompt, but at least it'll be somewhat useful. ;)

Ooh, thank you so much! Reaching past each other is it exactly, and I think (this being S6 in my head) that it'd almost be better for them if Daniel were dead. Which... kind of sucks, really.

Y'know, I've been playing this scenario out in my head a bit since I wrote it, and trying to sort out if I think they'd be able to adjust to the negative space or not. And I can't decide. (And since this is somewhere in the S5-S6 hiatus in my head, that leads to interesting 'Fallen' related thoughts.)

Both sad and beautiful. Manages to tell a long story in a very short space. This is something I've always wondered, if one person of a triad dies, will the other two be okay on their own.
Looks like your writing block has been lifted, ey?

Oh, thank you!
I think a triad losing someone requires a major shift in the dynamic between the two left, which Jack and Sam are both very persistently refusing to make -- and that might effectively kill what's left between them. Which is unfortunate. :/

Oh, yowwwwch. In the best way. The hair-scritching and the collarbone that isn't sensitive ... those kill me. Also gasp all the wrong syllables into the dark. And the last sentence. And, yeah, OK, all the other sentences too.

Thank you!
I said upthread to katie_m that I'm still trying to decide if I think Jack and Sam would be able to redefine themselves as a duo or if they'd just fall apart utterly, and leaning towards the latter -- and feeling a bit guilty about it, really. I think lack-of-Daniel is going to take up a lot more space than Daniel ever did.
