They were standing together looking down at Charlie's gravestone when the first blasts tore the fabric of the sky, stitched seams of death into the earth to the southeast. "Crap," Jack said softly, then drew phone and keys from opposite pockets and looked at Sara. "The pickup's safer," he said. Its bulletproof glass and EMP shielding and extra gas tank trumped her SUV's all-wheel drive

Strong smart resilient Sara and Strong Smart Jack are a wonderful couple. Some things take longer to recover from than other, but it's good to see that they got there. It's good to see them together.

I really love the thought of them finding each other again in an apocalyptic scenario (which abyssinia4077 totally rocks for thinking of). With the exception of Jack's team (which he left -- thanks so much, ptb), I can't think of anyone more appropriate for him to face (and conquer) the end of the world with, at least in a universe where Jack-and-Daniel never happened (which is how I think of this one), or happened and didn't work out (which is intriguing but I couldn't write without fixing it ;-)).

So pleased that you enjoyed this! Especially the ending -- I was really happy when that line came out. This started as one paragraph of backstory to an NC-17 commentfic set later, but I was having too much fun to squash it down to just a few lines, and I don't know if I'll get the actual intended Pornucopia fic done tonight, so this might be it. I'm really glad it ended on a note you liked. Thank you! :-)

My personal canon is so malleable and so much about potentialities and possibilities, but (no matter how much I enjoy reading other pairings) in my personal canon if Jack doesn't end up with Daniel he ends up finding Sara again and staying with her. Apocafic's such a perfect opportunity for that, and Abyssis is so brilliant for thinking of it. I'm so glad that you like this pairing too, and so glad this made you happy! Your feedback's made me very happy. :-)

Oh, yay! I loved the mirror of Sara behind the wheel of the car, and then the spaceship (Sara in space!!!) - she's so great. I love how they just go, like that, no hesitation until they get somewhere they can stop and breathe. And Jack comparing her to Earth - resilient as hell and about to surprise the crap out of the people who underestimate it. And that Jack has learnt, finally, what to say to her when their world ends. Even if Sara does have to tell him. :)

Wheeee, I'm so happy that you enjoyed! She's certainly handy in a pinch -- when you've only got like 750 words to get her and Jack off the planet so they can look back and use the 'rock' prompt, she jumps right in. *g*
You know how much I love your Jack/Sara, so your comments mean a lot, and I love what you saw in this. Thank you! :-)

"OK," she said, with a firm that's decided, then nod, and put her arm around him too.
