We did BLW with both of our girls-no mesh feeders involved though. It just seemed like an unnecessary and gross extra (I saw one that someone had put banana into and it was a yucky mess.)

I passed on Gil Rapely's book already I think, but I'll look on my shelf and make sure. If I didn't, I can send it on to you. There's also babyledweaners too.

Thanks! I don't really remember much about it now except that when I did hear about it, it seemed like a good idea. Even a recommendation of a book is useful, since I can get it from the library.

The mesh feeder seemed like it'd be useful for things like, say, broccoli, to get them used to the flavor without having to steam 'em to death.

There are two books by Gill Rapley - "Baby-Led Weaning" and "The Baby-Led Weaning Cookbook." The cookbook contains a condensed version of the info in the other book, so I'd just go for the cookbook.

I looked at mesh feeders, but the reviews on Amazon said they were impossible to clean so we skipped it. We do a lot of fruits and vegetables in big pieces she can chew on, small foods (peas, blueberries, black beans, etc.) and foods on a spoon (yogurt, hummus, guacamole, etc.). She loves the spoon - we load it up with a little food, and then put it where she can grab it and she picks it up and puts it in her mouth.

...beet burger recipe? *bats eyes*

If tomatoes just randomly show up on your porch, they're probably from us.

Oh, wait, hey, life has calmed down. Want to schedule this week for hanging out/brainpicking? Name a time of day that's best for y'all, and I'll tell you what days this week are good.

I'm growing bell peppers and I intend to let them get red and ripe. Some have your name on them!
