Title: Warmth
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairings: Glitch/Cain, Raw/Jeb
Summary: A winter night. Sometime in the future of the "Perceptible" 'verse.

The warm weight against his shoulder grew heavier as evening slowly turned into night. Soft whispers of snow brushed the impressive, full-length windows of the sitting room. At some point, someone had lit a few candles, since the electricity had given out hours ago.

Wyatt shifted gently so as not to disturb Glitch, wrapped in his thick wool blanket and fast asleep against Wyatt's shoulder. His own eyes were growing tired, lids half-closed. Between the silence and the warmth from the blankets and Glitch's body, Wyatt was having a hard time staying awake himself.

But when he heard a quiet rumbling sound, he raised his head after his chin had nearly reached his chest. Across the room, closer to the fireplace, was the rest of his family. A sight that still made his throat feel too tight whenever he was caught off-guard.

Raw had his arm wrapped solidly around Jeb's shoulders and Jeb had long-since fallen asleep with his head tucked against Raw's shoulder. In Jeb's lap was a sleeping toddler. The orphaned boy had been quite seriously taken with Raw (though everyone could tell the infatuation was mutual) when the four of them had been tasked with checking on the status of Central's orphanages and halfway houses. It had taken months of paperwork and interviews before the child could officially be called Raw and Jeb's son, but it had all been worth it to see them like this.

Wyatt rubbed his eye with the palm of his hand, letting it drop onto his lap to curl lightly around Glitch's flung-out hand that had ended up on his thigh. He rested his cheek on top of Glitch's head, hardly noticing the cold metal anymore, and contented himself with the company of his family.
