Takes place immediately after the eclipse.
This is the first attempt at this scene, but I'm sure this won't be the last time I address it. I needed to write something small, as the other story is getting more complicated by the day. This is more experimental, trying to work out some character stuff.
By the time the royal family turned to face the rest of the group that had gathered behind them, Glitch had wandered off to study a colorful tapestry nearby. The other three stood together as the princess looked their way.
DG led her mother to the remaining men. "Mother, this is Wyatt Cain," she laid her hand on Cain's arm with a warm grin. "He kept me safe."
The Queen smiled at the Tin Man, her eyes showing her gratitude. "We are in your debt, sir."
"It was an honor, Highness," Cain replied formally, bowing slightly. He looked toward Raw, wanting the attention away from himself.
"This is Mr. Raw, he is an amazing viewer and the bravest guy I've ever met," the princess reached forward and took Raw's hand in hers. "He helped me remember you guys, my family."
The Queen gave Raw a small nod of approval. "Your gift has allowed my daughter to return to me. For that, I am eternally grateful, Mr. Raw."
DG grinned and turned to the third man. "Of course, you remember Tutor," she said. "He may have made some tough choices, but in the end he helped me find my magic."
"Of course, Tutor. It has been quite a long time," the Queen nodded to her former employee, a stiff smile frozen on her lips. She made a mental note to discuss Tutor's 'touch choices' in private.
Shifting uncomfortably, DG looked toward the final member of her group. "Glitch, please come here."
Glitch turned quickly, giving the women a bright grin as he wandered back over. "Yes, DG?"
The Queen gasped sharply, a hand flying up to cover her mouth as she saw the man's face for the first time. "Oh, gods above," she whispered in a choked voice. "My Ambrose?"
Cain shifted closer to Glitch and put a supporting hand on the former advisor's shoulder. DG cleared her throat and made her introduction. "Mother, this is Mr. Glitch. He saved us all."
Barely hearing her daughter's words, the Queen stepped forward and laid a shaking hand on her old friend's cheek. "Oh, my dear Ambrose, I thought she'd killed you."
Glitch ducked his head awkwardly and glanced at Cain, then DG, before he looked back at the Queen. "Majesty," he said softly, swallowing thickly. "I'm - I'm terribly sorry. I'm afraid I can't remember how I'm to address you."
The monarch looked at the man in front of her closely, finally noticing his disheveled appearance and the zipper embedded in his scalp. Understanding what had happened to her advisor, she gave him her best smile while her eyes shone with unshed tears. "That is the correct title for when you are my advisor. When you are my friend, you call me Adi."
DG put her arm around Glitch's waist, pulling him close while her mother reunited with her oldest friend.
Giving a small bow, Glitch smiled. "You can call me Glitch."
