The Troth

I joined The Troth back in college, soon after finding my way home again to the gods I'd grown up with.  I wasn't too active or vocal on the discussion lists (save for a few discussions about Ol' One Eye, one of which I recall being a discussion about single women who are called by him...) , nor did I ever submit anything for publication in Idunna ( Read more... )

I've been a member of the Troth since 1999. I am currently a member of the Rede, and I finished the Clergy program and because ordained at Trothmoot '08.
Its a great organization, and I think its significantly better than 10 years ago. There's a lot more scholarship, more programs, more levels of involvement. But the fellowhips with fellow heathens is what I love the most about The Troth.

So, I'm happy to hear you want to re-join. :) its too bad you weren't able to come to TM this year, as it was in Virginia. Next year it will be in Minnesota. I'm already looking forward to it!

I was impressed with the organization and levels of community which I'd seen in the first part of this decade, but I can be rather shy and so I kept quiet and just soaked up all of the discussions which flooded my inbox. Hopefully I'll be a little more confident in my own experiences and growth in the last few years (both mundane and spiritual) to get more involved this time around. :)

Belated congrats on your ordination! I seem to remember a section on the old site outlining the clergy training program. However, what with the site move, I see there's not a whole lot of info on the site anymore. How long is the training, and what does it entail? I recall being impressed with the rigorous nature of the education and training.

You know, MN might be a good thing, depending on *where* in MN it will be. My company has a branch out there, and I've been wanting to meet my fellow credit memo reps in the flesh. . . ;)

That's very cool. I've always admired you, Mike, Heather, for your spiritual beliefs/connections. Maybe as my own are very uncertain.

I've always really felt a lot of respect for your religion. Although I am a fairly religionless person, I appreciate your dedication. Your soothsaying, as it were, helped me out at lot, too. I felt like I learned a lot from you.

I think maybe next payday I shall join as well. Next task - coming up with a meaningful name for our kindred.

Heh, well, the kindred itself likely won't happen for a few years-- I can't become an ordained clergyperson overnight. ;)

Of course, in the meantime, I'm thinking we can still do some groundwork for it and do our own study group kind of thing.
