[For anyone who wants to grab him in the Oncology Unit while he waits]
After his hectic string of long shifts during his first couple of weeks on Alpha trying to step into Chris' shoes, Dave really had gone on to sleep most of his days off away. Once he hit the sack, his body seemed determined to crash out and recharge. He knew he had the stamina for the job, but getting thrown in the deep end with a sense he had to prove himself had just been taxing. Aimee had kept him up to date on what was happening with Chris and Rick via Serena, and Dave kept in touch with his best mate by text, but the last twenty four hours really had shifted everything quite dramatically.
Of course, Dave knew Bella was pregnant, but that wasn't information he had any intentions of sharing with anyone. He had merely signed his name to the pathology request so she could get the results; anything beyond that was her ball in her court and not Dave's business. But after another day of sleeping on and off, the news soon came that Rick had taken a turn for the worst and the whole will he/won't he of Chris as the kidney donor was hanging in the balance... until Chris sent Dave a message to let him know he was going to go through with it, and asked if Dave could drop by for a chat at some point. By the time Dave woke up, took a shower and got himself together after the last few days doing hardly anything but lie around, it was just after dinner time. The Oncology unit was quiet for the night, and looking in to the room Chris and Rick were sharing in preparation of the transplant surgery the next morning, Dave found both Deleo brothers asleep in a darkened room. Chris had asked him to come, though, so he picked up a couple of magazines from the waiting room and brought them back to sit down on the row of seats just up from the hospital room. He wanted to at least have a couple of minutes to chat to Chris before he went under, and he would wait all night if that was what it took.
