YAY PODFICS. It is always exciting when something is podficced or translated or what have you!
And and, a ficlet, for The Lost Prince, obvs., because clearly we should make this a proper fandom:
The Rat loved Marco.
Everyone knew that, especially Marco. Devotion was an excellent quality in an aide-de-camp.
But the Rat was also in love with Marco, and he sometimes suspected that everyone but Marco knew that. It had to be obvious: it had been obvious to the Rat, at least, since last year’s celebration of the restoration of the Loristans to the throne of Samavia
( ... )
RAT. LUSTING. MARCO'S SPLENDID CHEST. JEALOUSY AND ENVY. THIS IS THE GREATEST. I am just trying to knock out a quick bit of Charioteer fic, but I will be back to write some Marco/Rat for yooooooou. :D:D:D:D
Almost no one really knew this. They looked at Marco and they looked at The Rat, their eyes tracking downwards, and they knew that The Rat must be clever, of course he was, because he surely couldn't be good for anything else, and they knew that The Rat must be loyal, because he obviously wouldn't survive very long on his own, and they had no idea, none at all, that The Rat was the most precious friend Marco had, that sometimes, late at night, Marco was sure that he would even give up Samavia for The Rat.
One day, he was going to tell him. One day, he was finally going to take a breath of clean Samavian air, and tell The Rat that he loved him, that he was in love with him, that he wanted him to stay forever.
Also, man. If Marco was ever forced to choose between Samavia and the Rat - that would be awful. I feel like Marco's sense of duty would almost force him to choose Samavia - but at the same time, I feel like the Rat would understand that (eventually, if not at the exact moment that Marco chose Samavia over him).
Alas, she's figured out our plan! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
But it is a short book and there are SPIES and imaginary European countries and general delightful ridiculousness. The main character waffles between being really quite bright and eye-bleeding oblivious, although in the book not so much to the Rat's crush as to Other Things.
Also, if we can drag you into it, I would have Yet More Reasons to make this fic longer and more beautiful. Don't you want an extended description of the poor Rat, trapped in the grandstand (or maybe the royal box? Not sure where he would be sitting) and forced to watch Marco be all splendid and barechested and touching other people.

(It's... not a very good book? But it is a very charming book, and I love The Rat more than is reasonable.)
