Friending Policy/Flist (Update)

Mar 09, 2010 17:23

I go through those that have friend-ed me every so often. If you want to be on my flist quicker then pm me or drop me a comment on the Master Fic List at the top of my journals main page. Please friend me first if you want to request me to friend you back. Next part will explain why:

1. I will look at anyone's journal who friends me. I am looking at creation date/number of journal entries/the recent journal entries/who you are friends of already.

I only friend *active* journals. That means people who post at least once a month or post recently. I basically want some sort of 'proof' that you are actually interested in LJ for something other than fanfics/comments. I also check ages- but that isn't a deciding factor. I'm very unlikely to friend someone below the age of 16 though. Doesn't mean I won't.

My fic will not be flocked UNLESS I make a fic journal where they will be available.

2. If the journal just has entries from years ago, no entries, only one or two entries (even brand new ones), or is recently created- I am not likely to friend you back. I'm assuming you are watching my journal for fic updates so Thank You! I don't think my personal entries are of real interest to you. As such it will be very rare that I friend you back... sorry, but I like to know a bit about the people I share my day to day life with.

3. I don't edit out journals if they are suddenly inactive or have changed interests from my flist. I only remove 'crossed out' or deleted journals. So if you are on my flist as a mutual friend you have nothing to worry about. If I ever remove someone from my flist there will be a *really really really* good reason for it.
---Note: If you remove me from your flist, upon realizing this I will remove you unless I am following your journal for fic/mvids/etc.

4. I also periodically check those that have friend-ed me that I haven't friend-ed back yet, even if I've checked them in the past. So, if you make the journal now or have in the past and don't use it then suddenly start, after a month or two of posts from you I'll likely friend back.

5. Any posts that are not fic/art/mvids by ME on my journal will eventually be flocked (that includes rec's I do outside major lists). All personal entries that are open will likely be locked within a week to a month after being posted... including fic progress reports.

6. As I read fic I do occasionally follow authors who are working on WIPs or whose fics I enjoy... it is possible that I may de-friend a journal like that but EXTREMELY unlikely... it hasn't happened yet. Friending to follow for fic is also pretty much the only time I'll friend a journal that doesn't have very many entries.

7. If you add me and have a lot of entries but have nothing regarding SPN or J2 on your journal please PM me or leave me a comment to be added. Apparently I have a bunch of random people who are not related to fandom following me that are... Russian I think? I used a google translator and I have no idea why they are following me.

------

My Reasons:

I post daily, sometimes multiple times... if I miss a day I go back and make a quick post mentioning something I did that day. I discuss my work, school, cat, and life in general. This is all information that I don't really want to share with just anyone so I limit it to those who share back to some degree. That's why I don't auto friend just any journal that friends me. I'm not trying to be mean, but to some degree I am protecting myself

(The main reason for this update is because I went backed and locked all non-fic/art/mvids by me entries prior to 2010)
