Ginko, Adashino

For 31_days. April 12th. Battle of attrition

Ginko tried, really, to satisfy Adashino's endless undying curiosity about the mushi world, mostly with stories, sometimes with hack items. He had two reasons for doing so. One, he just couldn't trust Adashino's sense of responsibility in keeping mushi safe and secure and hopefully, dormant. Two, Adashino's village had children. Which, while it wasn't necessarily a Bad Thing, usually led to various accidents wherein Ginko was invariably called in to clean up.

He didn't know why his friend was so interested in learning about things that he cannot see, for all Ginko knows, he could be telling Adashino quack stories and the other man would still believe them. After all, Ginko was more than sucessful in convincing his friend of many years to buy certain mushi-less things. Still, despite being a person who has absolutely no affinity whatsoever with mushi, Adashino did amass a rather startling collection of genuine mushi-related objects.

"You're lucky that you have a village who loves you. I've seen doctors kicked out of their jobs for lesser things. Much lesser things than regularly extending an open invitation to mushi to wreak havoc on your people."

Adashino gave him the evil eye. "Ginko, you know very well that this place is originally one of your special mushi veins, your kouki. It has little to do with my collection."

Ginko resisted the urge to slam his forehead against a convenient post. "For the last time, stop with the 'mine' and 'yours'. Besides, it's not only the kouki that attracts mushi, your collection introduces new mushi to the surrounding environment too. One day, you're going to get your village killed."

His friend waved one hand carelessly in the air. "Hasn't happened yet. Odds are it won't happen. You worry too much."

"And you don't worry enough." Ginko shot back. "Adashino. Please. Consider the matter of your village. One day I might not be able to save them."

"...I'll make sure that the children will not get to my collection," Adashino said sullenly. Ginko sighed.

"That's what you always say."

"We're never going to agree on this, are we."

Ginko puffed on his cigarette. "No, I guess not."
